Exciting times lie ahead for many businesses in the Mid-West region as the shortlist for the Limerick Chamber Regional Business Awards 2019 was announced on Wednesday morning at the Limerick Strand Hotel.
Out of 100 contenders, 21 businesses spread across seven categories were nominated by Limerick Chamber and are now in the running to take home gold at the prestigious award ceremony taking place on November 15 at the Limerick Strand Hotel.
To select the nominees, Limerick Chamber set up an independent judging panel comprised of six individuals, with CEO of recruitment agency CPL Resources, Anne Heraty, leading the panel.
While Anne was unable to attend the shortlist announcement, a representative from her company described the judging process as a task they found difficult for sure – ‘the decisions have not been easy as we had a number of very strong entries’.
In its ninth year, the 2019 competition is sponsored by Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT).
Head of Enterprise and Innovation at LIT Gillian Barry said the competition is important as it recognises the vast amount of work that businesses do to help the region prosper.
“These awards really do recognise and celebrate growth, innovation and most importantly contribution to the region.”
Former President of Limerick Chamber and Head of the Awards Committee Ken Johnson said that the applicants this year represent the high standard of enterprise in the region.
“When you look at the applicants that applied this year, there’s no doubt that we have a strong, vibrant business community,” Ken said.
“I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate everyone shortlisted, whatever the outcome on November 15, you’re all winners.”
