New pop-up shop, Wickham Way, is set to open in Limerick City on December 4th and will offer a wide variety of goods from artists and crafters.
The retail space will open from 10am to 4pm every Friday and Saturday for the month of December and will offer coffee, food, and live music every weekend.
Organiser Eva Clarke said: “It’s a gorgeous building with two warehouses and I just knew we could do something really interesting with it.”
“After lockdown we just decided we would open the gates because it’s such a lovely space for the people of Limerick to use, right in the city centre.”
The aim is to involve people who are creating their own things as much as possible.
There will be a wide variety of crafters selling, art, ceramics, candles, jewellery, vintage clothes and much more.
Artists, creators, and local businesses have been greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic so for Eva it is important for people to shop and support local coming up to Christmas.
“The process so far has been really fun, I’m loving it! The community are so enthusiastic which really helps. People have somewhere to sell their wares now and there are so many gorgeous things out there. It’s good fun and the people on Wickham Street have been so welcoming,” Eva said.
She hopes to keep it going after December as it has been so well received by the public to have a community space in the city centre for events, shops and promoting the arts.
“I’m completely overwhelmed by the support and the positivity I have been getting from everyone. It has just been so positive and I’m so excited about it,” Eva added. “It’s not really a business for me, it’s for fun and it’s for Limerick.”
