Limerick City and County Council Have Announced the Theme for this Year’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival.
‘A More Fun Limerick is a theme that aims to showcase all that is good about the Treaty City, promising a spectacular festival of joy, freedom and creativity.
The festival will be suitable for people of all ages and will feature a variety of events catering to the public, as the city turns into a beacon of celebration from March 15 – 17.
Speaking after the festival’s announcement. Mayor of Limerick, John Moran said: “Delivering more for Limerick is the key ambition of Limerick City and County Council and that includes having more fun, so I am incredibly excited about this year’s St. Patrick’s Festival theme. ‘A More Fun Limerick’ perfectly captures the essence of our community. It is why we all love living here. We now look forward to seeing everyone come together to celebrate in a way that truly reflects the spirit of Limerick.”
Príomh Comhairleoir of Limerick City and County Council, Cllr Dan McSweeney, added: “Limerick is brimming with vibrant characters and lively places that truly embrace the spirit of fun, adding to the dynamic energy of our city and county. The St. Patrick’s Festival is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the unique creativity and distinctive charm that Limerick has to offer. I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to join us in making this year’s St. Patrick’s Festival the most unforgettable celebration yet.”
The iconic St. Patrick’s Day parade is set to follow the same route as 2024, making its way down O’Connell Street before moving on to Henry Street and ending at Arthur’s Quay Park.
Elsewhere, several other events are planned to take place over the course of the weekend, including the 53rd Limerick International Band Championship, due to take place on Sunday, March 16.
Limerick City and County Council is seeking participants for the St. Patrick’s Day parade who can now REGISTER their interest.
Limerick City and County Council’s Festival and Events Officer, Eugene Crimmins, stated: “This is a call out to all companies, clubs, groups and organisations. We are eager to see your creativity adding to the excitement and fun of this year’s St. Patrick’s Festival. ‘A More Fun Limerick’ is all about bringing joy to everyone, and we can’t wait to share the full line-up of events.”
