SPA judges praised Limerick Voice’s ‘multi-platform presence’ and prolific writing

The Limerick Voice team were delighted to be named Best Publication at the Student Publication Association (SPA) Regional Awards this week, contested by newspapers and platforms across Northern Ireland and the Republic.

As the UK and Ireland’s largest student media association, the SPA’s annual awards programme recognises the ‘best work’ carried out by student-run publications in eight different regions.

According to judges, the Best Publication gong is awarded annually to a platform that produces high-quality content and has a significant regional impact.

Of Limerick Voice’s triumph, the SPA noted, “Limerick Voice have established themselves as a multi-platform presence. They regularly post photo and video content on social media and maintain three podcasts, despite having under 30 writers — who still write prolifically.”

‘The Scoop’ – Queen’s University Belfast’s student radio station – took second place in the category.

The accolade comes as Limerick Voice’s stellar crew of reporters return to the University of Limerick campus for the spring semester. Readers can expect a continuation of the engaging local coverage and striking visual content enjoyed in 2022, as well as our eagerly anticipated annual print edition – due for release in March!
