Three of Limerick’s leading educational institutions—UL, MIC, and TUS—have teamed up to organise the Limerick Festival of Science.
Limerick Festival of Science has begun on Thursday, November 7, and will run until Sunday, November 17. The festival was organised by the University of Limerick (UL), Mary Immaculate College (MIC) and the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), to show people all that science has to offer.
The programme features a variety of events hosted by the third-level institutions, showcasing the STEAM subjects—science, technology, engineering, art and design, and mathematics.
Speaking to the Limerick Voice, UL facility manager, Bernie Quilligan, says: “The Limerick Festival of Science is a public celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and involves an exciting programme of events in different venues across our community.”
Discussing the importance of this in the world today, Quilligan explains, “Expertise in STEM disciplines is necessary to drive the economic ambitions of the Mid-West region, and also supports innovation and provides the foundations for future prosperity.”
There is a range of events for people of all ages to enjoy. The UL facility manager says the festival offers enjoyable settings, accessible topics, and friendly social interactions that encourage visitors to develop an increased interest in curiosity about science and technology to choose from.
