Limerick gears up for ‘A More Fun Limerick’ Festival Weekend!

Limerick to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with parades, bands, and family-friendly events

Limerick City is preparing for an unforgettable St Patrick’s Day this year, with a weekend full of beloved traditions and if you’re interested in something new. There are new experiences for everyone! 

Running through March 15, to the big day, March 17, this year’s theme is ‘A More Fun Limerick’. The weekend promises to be full of culture creativity and community.  

This year’s Limerick St. Patrick’s Day parade will begin at Roden Street, moving down O’Connell Avenue and O’Connell Street. The parade ends at Rutland Street by Mathew Bridge. 

Some highlight events include INIS – The Family Experience, a brand new Irish music show taking place at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Meanwhile, storyteller and musician David Collopy will engage audiences with Tales of St. Patrick by The Limerick Fireside. 

Ceili Mór at Limerick Milk Market will officially begin the festivities, while after the Limerick City Parade, audiences can expect the Post Parade Block Party to keep the energy going through the night! 

The annual 53rd International Band Championship will take place at midday on Sunday, March 16, featuring bands from around the world, a unique event for Limerick, where spectators can enjoy lively musical performances. Winners will be announced during a musical jamboree in Arthur’s Quay Park following the parade.
