Short film festival to host free screenings in Limerick

European Short Shorts Festival 2024 Returns to Limerick with Free Screenings

EUNIC Ireland is delighted to return with its European Short Shorts Festival 2024. This Thursday, October 17 at TUS Limerick, there will be free screenings of various films available to all. Films will be featured from Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain with a range of genres from contemporary, cutting-edge filmmakers. Limerick School of Art and Design will also present short films from Ireland on the programme.

There will be events held in various cities spanning the country including Limerick, Galway, Cork, and Dublin. Tickets can be booked here. All films will be in English or will feature English subtitles and after the screening the audience will be asked to vote for their favourite film via smartphone.

Short Shorts from Europe film festival will be screened for free from 6pm in the Limerick School of Art & Design and the TUS Moylish Campus. EUNIC aims to promote culture and further international relations.

In 2020, the organisation worked with LIT to bring the first short shorts screening to Limerick audiences. The festival continues to strive to give the stage to emerging and established talents. EUNIC promises that the night will be rich in action, humour, creativity and lots more, featuring notable films such as ‘Washed Up Love’ from Ireland, ‘Glow’ from Luxembourg and ‘Maestro’ from Hungary.

Washed Up Love

This comedy by Dylan Cotter is fully as Gaeilge, with English subtitles and was first brought to screens in 2011. Dylan is a Dublin based creator who has made a number of award-winning shorts. Washed Up Love follows a story of fading love and newfound grá.

Glow

In 2020, the animation Glow was produced by Luxembourgish moderator and film producer, Fred Neuen. In 2004, he directed his first professional short film and has since worked across cinema, tv and advertising through his production company, Radar. Glow features a little creature trapped in a dying world, until it meets a living figment of imagination which introduces it to the power of dreams.

Maestro

Academy Award nominated Hungarian film producer and director Géza M. Tóth bring the Maestro animation to screens! This short follows Maestro getting ready five minutes before the curtain of the big performance and time is ticking…
