Dance Limerick have announced the Compass Associate Artist for 2024/2025, Alex Vostokova.
This year Dance Ireland, along with the Irish World Academy, opened a call for Irish based artists who wanted to create a relationship between Limericks cultural side and dance.
After deliberation, the panel gave the prestigious role to Alex Vostokova.
Alex is a talented dancer and up and coming director and choreographer working with a mix of improvisation and film as well.
Alex is also interested in surrealism and has been inspired by sociological concepts.
She first made her solo debut ‘3 Sides to Shuji and why he’s all alone again’ at the Irish Youth Dance Festival in 2021. Since then she’s embarked on many different dancing endeavors including performing ‘Within This Party’ by Stereo 48 Dance Company in France and Belgium in 2023 and in ‘Palimpsest’ with the Dance Theatre, CoisCeim.
As the Compass Associate Artist, over the next year, Alex will work closely with fellow artist and dancer Grace Cuny, cellist Kate Ellis, musician Jason McNamara and mentor Matt Szczerek to develop the dance ‘Logic of Wrong and Rehearsed Carelessness’.
This role will allow Limerick-based artists and communities to work and interact with Alex, including an exploration week with MA Contemporary Dance Performance students at the Irish World Academy.
