Local business, Fíor Jewellery set up a pop-up shop in the courtyard of University of Limerick on Monday, March 10.
With the beginning of Seachtain na Gaeilge this week, what better way to kick off the celebrations than with former UL student and Gaeilgeoir Seán Leddin – who set up a pop-up stand on campus for his newly established business known as Fíor Jewellery.
The variety of rings, necklaces and other pieces were out on display in the courtyard for students of UL to browse and look through on Monday, March 10, with some excellent and unique designs available.
Some of the jewellery on show included a necklace with ‘Ireland’ written in the Ogham alphabet, as well as the outline of the island of Ireland as a chain.
The recent graduate in international business spoke about how his business returned to the UL courtyard on the day.
“It was definitely not something I had planned out, but I have done a lot of smaller side hustles and businesses ideas before and always knew I wanted to set up something once I graduated.’’
Seán, who is a Gaeilgeoir, cited the Irish language as a large influence on the brand and its marketing. Fíor, the word for true or real in Irish, became the name of Leddin’s local jewellery business.
“Going through primary and secondary school in Irish and always wanting to know the Irish language had to be involved and incorporated into the brand I create.”
The 22-year-old successful entrepreneur also offered some advice for young people who might be looking to get into business.
“If they have any idea at all about a business, start as soon as you possibly can and get up and running,” Sean remarked.
Seán also spoke about graduating from University of Limerick last year and his decision to bring bring the pop-up shop back to where it all began.
“Being able to meet people and see familiar faces is the great thing about setting up popups near home.”
This most recent popup is one of many around Limerick that Fíor Jewellery are organising. The brand is looking to gain more exposure with short term events like these.
