Local Band, ‘Left On Read’ will be playing in the Stables Club on October 16.
Limerick locals Jack Reeves, Adam Reeves, James Doherty and Steve Tynan are the four main members of Left On Read, which formed in early 2020. The band have been writing and producing music for the past four years. According to lead singer, Steve Tynan, this band specializes in “loud, energetic, funky tunes.”
“All four of us are from Limerick” explains Steve. However, sometimes the band brings in stand-in musicians for a gig to accommodate Adam and Jack who now live in England. “The two lads are home to Limerick all the time. But It’s been nice because they are getting involved in the music scene over in the UK where they are living and it’s kind of cool to be able to see how things are done a bit differently over there” the singer explains.
“It’s been great for us because we have had the opportunity to go over and play in England which we have done five or six times in the past year” continues Steve, on how the band has modified their set-up to chase music opportunities.
“We will have a stand-in drummer in Stables on Wednesday, and we will be playing as a three-piece, but I think it is going to be great” highlights Steve as to how the group will be adapting to play in UL this week.
New upcoming tracks
Music fanatics can look forward to hearing some new singles from the band on Wednesday night. “We have a few new songs that we are going to be playing” reveals Steve. “It’s going to be nice to play them in front of people and get their opinions on them” admits the local musician.
“We have eight songs released at the minute and I think we should have all of them in the set. We also have a lot of unreleased stuff as well that we will be playing there too” comments Steve as to what people can look forward to hearing from the band.
“It’s a good thing when you have unreleased songs to play because it’s a good way to gauge what you should release next. It’s nice to know which new songs people will react well to” comments Steve.
Preparing for shows
“Having a bit of a panic before gigs is something I would have done early days but it’s important I think now that I remember I’m getting up there because that is what I love doing, I’m getting up on the stage because I love playing gigs and I really want to play music to people. So, you just have to make the most of every second and make sure that you are enjoying it” explained Steve.
“I feel like sometimes I can just become like a different person when I’m playing on stage. I do a lot of talking between songs, but I like that as well, I like cracking jokes, and I like connecting with the crowd” he continues.
The evolution and influences of Left on Read
Left on Read’s sound has evolved a lot since the band first started four years ago. “It’s definitely matured, I think we have gotten more open to trying things and just letting ourselves express ourselves that little bit more. It’s just a bit more grown-up than it was at the start.” analyses Steve
“A lot of our songs, they are very much influenced by deeper emotions” as the singer reveals their latest single ‘Don’t Let Go’ resembles a letter to “people close to me that I grew up with that were going through a tough time, it’s of a way of saying I’m here if you need me” the artist explains.
It’s the things that you can’t say, or you are not brave enough to say out loud because you know… big boys don’t cry and all that. You can channel that through music and for some reason that seems to be a bit more socially acceptable than talking about our feelings” ponders Steve
Join ‘Left On Read’ at the Stables Club this October 16 for a night of music and vibrant energy that you do not want to miss.
