442 adults in Limerick and 191 children in the Mid-West are currently homeless
The Limerick Shine a Light sleep-out for Focus Ireland is taking place this Friday, October 11 for the 12th year.
The annual sleep-out aims to raise funds and awareness for homelessness, a challenge faced by 14,492 people in Ireland, 442 adults in Limerick and 191 children in the Mid-West. The sleep-out will take place from 8pm in the Limerick Crescent Shopping Centre.
With record levels of homelessness among children, these charities are in dire need of support. Focus Ireland supports over 18,000 people every year who are currently homeless or are facing challenges to their housing situation.
The Limerick team have set a goal for their fundraiser to reach €10,000, a figure that they hope to exceed.
Focus Ireland advises those attending to “bring your own sleeping bag and a yoga mat/cardboard for underneath the sleeping bag as it may be cold”.
