With the release of their new album ‘The Story After They’re Gone’, they are set to play in Dolan’s ahead of their Irish tour starting this November.
Dylan Flynn and the Dead Poets release their new album today, October 11, titled ‘The Story After They’re Gone’. According to Flynn, the lead singer, the album covers topics such as “people leaving, like friends and family members, but also people passing away”. Flynn goes on to mention that the record also deals with “themes of loss, emigration and relationships”.
The Limerick native’s inspiration for music came from his Dad introducing him to soft rock from artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and the Eagles. This translated into his songwriting, which Flynn describes as a “blend of indie rock” with “country influences”.
The Irish tour
Starting on the first of November the band is set to start their Irish tour in Galway, then Limerick followed by Cork and Dublin. The tour is filled with opening acts such as ‘Swallow Sorrow’ ‘Clifford’ and ‘The Clause’.
The Limerick show will be a standout as Flynn states “half the tickets are nearly gone so we are really excited for that”. Joining the band in Cork, is an up-and-coming group from Limerick called ‘Theatre’. To end the Irish tour, in Dublin, they have an indie folk artist called Anna Leah opening their show. This tour is different from past gigs as Flynn explains: “This is the most prepared and best sounding set so far”. “These new shows are really something special, so I really encourage people to come out and see us”, said the artist.
Returning to their Limerick roots
Being Limerick-born and playing in Dolan’s Warehouse means a lot to Flynn. The band played in Dolan’s for the first time two years ago alongside two other Limerick acts and got a good crowd to attend. This is when the band knew they were capable of success. “We were like, we can do this now. We just kept pushing and each show has gotten busier” says the lead singer. This has led to their upcoming show in Dolan’s Warehouse on November 2 being their biggest event to date. Flynn is excited and playing in Limerick on their tour is “always a highlight and to play in our hometown is absolutely amazing”.
