34 people have been arrested in Kilmallock today, Tuesday 26 November.
During the operation, which involved over 40 gardaí, a residential property was searched and four multi-agency checkpoints were conducted.
People were arrested for various alleged offences, including outstanding bench warrants, and three arrests under Operation Táirge – which detects and prevents organised retail crime.
The intelligence-led operation was supported by the Roads Policing Unit, Regional Armed Support Unit, Gardaí from Clare and Tipperary, along with Customs and Revenue, the Department of Social Protection and Limerick City and County Council’s dog warden
A vehicle was detected by customs with green diesel and a fine was levied. One pit bull dog was seized by Limerick City and County Council.
Three men arrested in connection with the operation were detained pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Garda stations in the County Limerick and County Tipperary areas.
The co-ordination group maintains in close contact with retailers and business groups and as is often the case in organised crime, organised retail crime can involve an international dimension, therefore the co-ordination group is also maintaining its close working relationships with international counterparts.
Investigations are ongoing
