On November 29, International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Limerick’s Dolan’s sees A Night For Palestine raise vital funds to aid medical relief in Gaza.
An evening of art and reflection, A Night For Palestine aims to give space to Limerick’s Palestinian community, and raise vital funds for Gaza.
A wide array of artists (The Whileaways; Greenshine; Róisín El Cherif; Annie Cheevers; Abe Soare; plus more to be announced) will gather upstairs in Dolan’s to sing and speak into the darkness, in creative solidarity and action against the devastation being experienced right now in Palestine.
Through ticket sales and a very special charity head-shave, A Night For Palestine will raise funds for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund and Red Crescent.
Speaking about the event, an organiser said: “This is an incredibly important time where the creative community across Ireland must come together in solidarity and support for the Palestinian community. We must speak out against the humanitarian crisis we’re seeing right before our eyes.”
According to the organisers, the hope for the event is that the Palestinian community in Limerick feel welcome and supported. They want to raise funds to aid medical relief, but they would also love to create meaningful connections between communities on the night.
Folk legends The Whileaways and Greenshine will perform at the event, as well as Palestinian-Irish artist Róisín El Cherif. Limerick’s own Abe Soare will make a return to the stage, plus crowds will be treated to a special performance from Limerick’s adopted daughter, Annie Cheevers.
Fresh off the back of the launch of his third book, The 14th Storm, author Daniel J Mooney will be having his head shaved on the night for the cause.
Speaking of those who’ve voluntered their time, an organiser said: “We are so grateful to the artists giving freely of their time to join this lineup, and we would really love to hear from any Palestinian artists and speakers local to Limerick who would also like to be part of this event. They can email us at info@irishartistsforpalestine.com for more information.”
A Night For Palestine takes place on Wednesday, November 29. Doors are at 6.30pm, and the event kicks off at 7.00pm.
Tickets are €20 plus booking fee and are available here.
