Armed robbery in Limerick city as thieves make off with cash and stolen goods

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing

A sum of cash and a number of goods were stolen in an armed robbery in Limerick city earlier today, Monday, April 8.

Gardaí were alerted to the incident, which occurred shortly before 11am this morning, and quickly arrived on the scene but the thieves had already made off with the money and stolen goods.

Limerick Voice understands the incident occurred at a retail premises on Cruises Street in the city centre. 

Anybody who may have witnessed the armed robbery or saw the culprits fleeing the scene are asked to contact Henry Street garda station on 061 212400.

No injuries have been reported as of yet and no arrests have been made – Gardaí say they are still investigating the crime.

A Garda spokesperson told Limerick Voice: “Gardaí received report of an alleged incident of armed robbery that occurred at approximately 10:55am today, Monday, 8th of April 2024 at a premises on Cruises Street, Limerick City.

“A sum of cash and a number of goods were taken in the course of this incident.

“No injuries were reported. No arrests have been made.

“Investigations are ongoing at this time.”
