A young girl was airlifted to hospital this evening after she collapsed in the middle of a junior camogie county final in Limerick.
The game between Newcastle West Camogie Club and Tournafulla GAA Club in Coolyroe was called off when the girl fell unconscious shortly after the second half had started.
The girl who was playing for Newcastle West was immediately seen to by two nurses and a doctor who were at the game.
Supporters said players and fans on both sides were left in shock after the incident and did everything to help the young player.
It is now known if the girl had any underlying health conditions and she was taken to University Hospital Limerick in a helicopter where she is now recovering.
Newcastle West Camogie Club tweeted: “Our player is recovering well in hospital. Sending all our love to her family and friends.”
