Public demo day to feature over 90 student projects exploring AI, gaming, media and ethics in tech

More than 90 final-year projects will be on display at the University of Limerick this Tuesday, April 8, as students from the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems (CSIS) present their work during an open demo day.

The event runs from 11 am to 2.30 pm across three floors of the CSIS building and is open to the public. Students from programmes including Computer Systems, Computer Games Development, Digital Media Design, and Music, Media and Performance Technology will showcase their Final Year Projects through live demonstrations and interactive displays.

Broad range of topics, from nuclear safety to augmented reality tourism

The projects cover a wide range of areas, including artificial intelligence, augmented reality, software design, electronic music and digital media. Topics include electric vehicle navigation, predicting nuclear reactor incidents, resisting the attention economy in gaming, and tracking statistics in American football.

Some reflect current social and ethical concerns, such as an interactive installation exploring data rights in surveillance culture or tools aimed at improving sustainability in agriculture. Others focus on creative uses of technology, including software for live music visuals and AR-based tourism experiences.

An awards ceremony for the top projects will take place at 3 pm.
