Gardaí appeal for public’s help in aggravated burglary investigation

Masked intruders assault a man in his home in Ballysimon Road area

Gardaí are investigating an aggravated burglary that took place at a residential property in the Ballysimon Road area of Limerick City on Friday 28, 2025, at approximately 9 pm.

During the incident, three masked individuals forced their way into the home and assaulted a man in his 30s. He was taken to University Hospital Limerick. His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening at this time.

A forensic examination was conducted at the scene, and investigations are ongoing.

Witness Appeal

Gardaí are urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward. In particular, they are seeking:

  • Witnesses who were in the Ballysimon Road or Old Cork Road area between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm and may have noticed suspicious activity.
  • Road users who have video footage, including dash-cam recordings, from the area during this time.
  • Anyone who saw a dark-coloured jeep in the vicinity around the time of the burglary.
