An Garda Síochána are continuing to make contact with each individual person that reached out.

A scoping inquiry into historical sexual abuse in schools run by religious orders around the country has seen the Gardaí receive over 500 contacts since September 4, of this year.

The majority of those reaching out are older males who are sharing their experiences with An Garda Síochána for the first time.

As of now, the inquiry has found 158 allegations of sexual abuse in Limerick schools run by seven religious orders, along with 47 alleged abusers.

Each person who has contacted An Garda Síochána will be given the time and space to discuss their personal experience and Gardaí will continue to support each person through the process at the pace and to the extent that they wish to engage with them.
