General Election 2024: Sheehan Secures the Seat

Two tense days of counts draw to a close as Conor Sheehan is lifted by friends and family

After 15 counts and two days. As of 8:30pm, Conor Sheehan of Labour has been elected to Limerick’s fourth and final seat.

The Garryowen native came in at 1,643 votes, passing out Social Democrats’ Elisa O’Donovan by 582 who sat at 1,061 votes.

During the tense and emotional affair, O’Donovan crossed to Sheehan’s side of the center to share an embrace and a tear amongst the crowd.

The Limerick City constituency has now elected all four of its officials.

They are:

  • Willie O’Dea of Fianna Fáil
  • Kieran O’Donnell of Fine Gael
  • Maurice Quinlivan of Sinn Féin
  • Conor Sheehan of Labour
