Video footage shows over a dozen garda vehicles outside Charleville
Raids have been conducted in numerous properties in Charleville as part of a major operation by the gardai. The dispute between the two families has seen the deployment of the Garda helicopter along with other measures.
To this point there have been no reported seizures, however, the gardai have seized evidence-based items for investigation.
Garda reacts to escalating violence
Speaking to the Irish Examiner on September 19, Superintendent Gary McPolin stated that they have “increased their 24-hour garda service” in the town as a result of the escalating violence. He also mentioned more “high visibility patrols and checkpoints” will be in effect during this time.
He also spoke of cooperation with their Limerick counterparts and the armed support unit from Cork City.
This is the latest in a growing list of violent incidents across Charleville, Kilmallock and Patrickswell, including a 12-year-old girl being rushed to Temple Street Children’s Hospital in mid-August.
