Limerick councillor expresses concern at pattern of violence in Limerick city

“It’s absurd and scary that these events are zigzagging across the city”

Aontú councillor Sarah Beasley shared her shock and fear following an arson attack in the Corbally area.

The councillor detailed her horror at the fires, highlighting it as the most recent in a thread of ongoing attacks across the city. “It’s absurd and scary that these events are zigzagging across the city – from the south side all the way over to Corbally now.”
The Limerick City representative described the spread of violent attacks occurring across Limerick over the past few weeks. Beasley stated she “couldn’t believe somebody could do something like this in our city”

The attack occurred in The Meadows, Lower Park at around 3:00 am on Monday, March 10, 2025.
No injuries have been reported at this time.

A Garda spokesperson stated that “an improvised device containing an accelerator” was used to start the fires. There are no further updates at this time.

Garda units have identified a black SUV as a possible lead in the investigation.
