Limerick Mental Health Week – What’s on?

LIMERICK Mental Health Week kicks off this evening and will run until October 11, coinciding with World Mental Health Day on October 10.

The week strives to create a better understanding of mental health while celebrating the services that protect mental wellbeing.

The theme of this year’s Mental Health Week is ‘Suicide Prevention.’

As part of the week, mental health experts will gather in Limerick for a range of engaging, informative and thought-provoking events.

Limerick Voice takes a look at some of the events to come:

FRIDAY 04 OCTOBER:

What? Limerick Mental Health Week Launch
Who? The Mayor of Limerick City will open the week’s activities. All are welcome to attend.
Where? The Hunt Museum, Limerick.
When? 6:00pm

SATURDAY 05 OCTOBER:

What? Family Health and Wellness Day
Who?
All are welcome to attend.
Where is it happening?
Castletroy Shopping Centre
When? 10:00am – 04:00pm.

SUNDAY 06 OCTOBER:

What? SMRC Urban Run
Who? All are welcome to participate once registered online
Where? O’Callaghan Strand
When? 1:00pm

MONDAY 7TH OCTOBER:

What? An evening with Arnold Thomas Fanning
Who? Author of ‘Mind on Fire: A Memoir of Madness and Recovery,’ Arnold Thomas Fanning.

Where? Schuman Building, University of Limerick
When? 7:00pm

TUESDAY 8TH OCTOBER:

What? Promoting emotional wellbeing
Who? Presentation by Dr. Coleman Noctor, Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist, followed by Ms. Noelle Crehen, Nutritional Therapist. All are welcome to attend.
Where? The Longcourt House Hotel, Newcastle West
When? 7.30 – 9.30pm

WEDNESDAY 9TH OCTOBER:

What? Limerick Suicide Watch Open Day – meet the people behind Limerick Suicide Watch and see their centre of operations.

Who? All are welcome to attend.
Where? Unit 3, Tait Business Centre, Limerick City.
When? 7:00 – 8:30pm

THURSDAY 10TH OCTOBER:

What? Shine a light on the river – a boat procession down the River Shannon.
Who? All are welcome to attend and remember to bring a phone or a torch and to wrap up warm!
Where? Thomand, Sarsfield and Shannon bridges.
When? 6:00pm – 8:00pm

FRIDAY 11TH OCTOBER:

What? Limerick Choir Night
Who? The Choir will be directed by Malcolm Green. All are welcome to attend.
Where? St Mary’s Cathedral.
When? 7:30pm
