A young man in his early 20’s has been killed in a Co Limerick road crash.
Gardaí are investigating the single vehicle collision that occurred on the R511, Fedamore – Limerick Road at Carnane on Tuesday shortly after 2am.
The victim suffered fatal injuries when the car he was travelling in left the road and struck a ditch. He was pronounced dead at scene. His body was taken to University Hospital Limerick. A post mortem was due to take place later on Tuesday.
The driver of the car, a woman, also aged in her early 20’s, received minor injuries and was taken to University Hospital Limerick but her injuries are not believed to be life threatening. No other injuries were reported.
A section of the road between Fedamore and Limerick city was closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions were in place.
The man is the 12th person to die on Limerick roads so far this year.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information, particularly those who travelled the R511 close to Fedamore between 1am and 2.20am on Tuesday October 4, 2016 is asked to contact Roxboro Road Garda station on 061 214340, The Garda Confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
