Some 55kgs worth of herbal cannabis was seized
A man in his 40s was arrested in Limerick on Thursday, February 1 after Gardaí seized approximately 55kgs worth of cannabis with an estimated value of €1.1m.
The find was carried out by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Kerry Divisional Drug Unit in a joint operation with Revenue’s Customs Service.
The man is currently being detained by Gardaí under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Kerry Divisional Drug Unit carried out a joint operation with Revenue’s Customs Service in the Limerick area yesterday, 1st February 2024.
“Revenue Officers seized approximately 55kgs worth of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €1.1m.
“A man in his 40s was arrested by Gardaí and is currently detained at a Garda Station in the Southern Region under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
