Man dies after hit-and-run incident in Limerick City

A man in his 50s has died following a fatal hit-and-run on the Ennis Road

The incident involving a car and a pedestrian occurred on Ennis Road shortly before 2 pm this afternoon, Tuesday 26 November.

The driver of a maroon-coloured Ford Focus, registration 141 C 3717 failed to remain at the scene, the car has since been recovered.

The Ennis road is currently closed pending an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

A man in his 30’s has been arrested in relation to the incident and is currently being detained at a Garda Station in the Southern Region, under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardaí are appealing for information on the movements of the Ford Focus around the time of the incident. Any road users who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision and who may have camera footage, including dash cam are asked to contact Gardaí.
