MET Éireann has issued an orange wind warning for Limerick as Storm Lorenzo reaches Irish shores.
The warning will come into effect at 6pm this evening and remain in place until tomorrow at 3am.
The former category five hurricane is expected to reach mean speeds of 65 to 80 kilometres per hour with gusts of 100 to 130 kilometres per hour.
As a result, all Limerick libraries, galleries, museums, parks and playgrounds have been directed to close this evening at 5pm.
People are urged not to put their lives at risk during the storm and to stay in doors as much as possible.
