Over €500,000 in funding allocated to twelve CLÁR projects in Limerick

More than €500,000 in funding allocated to twelve sport and community projects in Limerick 

Twelve Limerick projects are set to receive over half a million (€508,722) under the CLÁR funding programme 2024 to improve a number of sports and community facilities across the county. 

Over €11.4 million will be allocated to 264 projects nationwide, Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD announces. 

The CLÁR programme provides funding for small scale projects in rural areas. 

Under Measure 1 of the 2024 initiative, grants are provided to support the development of community and sports facilities, youth clubs, playgrounds, sensory gardens, walking tracks etc.  

Stephane Duclot, Director of Rural, Community and Culture Development says, “The funding supports rural areas affected by depopulation to develop high quality amenities for the public to use and enjoy.” 

Mayor John Moran, welcomes the announcement, saying, “This funding will enhance sports and community facilities across the county, having a meaningful impact on the lives of our residents and underscores our commitment to growing and supporting vibrant rural communities”. 

Limerick projects to receive funding: 

  • Kilbehenny National School: €50,000 for resurfacing works on the school playground. 
  • Galtee Gaels GAA: €44,679 for the provision of multipurpose equipment and a sensory room. 
  • Killeedy Eco Park: €50,000 to install outdoor toilet facilities. 
  • Glenroe GAA: €50,000 to construct a covered accessible spectator stand. 
  • Mountcollins GAA: €50,000 for the refurbishment of the club’s dressing rooms. 
  • Anglesboro Community Centre: €48,844 to replace stage lighting and sound systems. 
  • Athea GAA: €48,597 for resurfacing the club and walking track car park as part of a larger upgrade. 
  • Glengurt National School: €30,428 to upgrade its ball court into a basketball court. 
  • Cappamore Development Association: €20,246 for the installation of online booking software and keypad access doors at Cappamore Hall. 
  • Ashford Hall Group: €50,000 to install shower and toilet facilities at The Ash. 
  • Kilfinane Community Projects: €15,928 for upgrading the car park and grounds. 
  • Ballylanders GAA: €50,000 for an accessibility upgrade to the clubhouse, including a walkway and associated lighting.
