Young musicians to perform works by Mozart, Debussy, and more in annual celebration of emerging talent

The University Concert Hall (UCH) will once again host its annual Rising Stars concert this April, celebrating some of Ireland’s most promising young classical musicians. Launched in 2016, the series has provided a platform for emerging talent, with this year’s performers set to take the stage alongside acclaimed pianist Dearbhla Collins. The concert will be hosted by RTÉ Lyric FM’s Liz Nolan.

A stage for future stars

The 2025 Rising Stars line-up includes mezzo-soprano Leanne Fitzgerald, pianist Defne Gultoprak, baritone David Kennedy, violinist Matteo Lo Bracco, and clarinettist Ben O’Brien. In keeping with tradition, the performers have curated their own programme, featuring works by Mozart, Chopin, Wagner, Debussy, Schubert, and Strauss.

UCH Director Sinead Hope described the initiative as a vital platform for emerging artists.
“Since 2016, this annual concert has introduced extraordinary talent to new audiences, and with the support of Ei Electronics, we look forward to nurturing the next generation of artists,” she said.

Local support for classical talent

Ei Electronics returns as the official sponsor, supporting UCH’s mission to foster young classical talent.

Ei Electronics Chairman and CEO Mick Guinee highlighted the company’s commitment to the arts in the region: “As a Company with a 35-year heritage, and its roots in the Mid-West, it’s a privilege for us to play a part in enabling UCH to achieve its aim of promoting a vibrant arts sector in the region. Supporting the initiative is a great fit with Ei’s culture of supporting young and up and coming talent.”

Rising Stars 2025 takes place on Sunday, April 6 at 3:30 pm. Tickets are available via www.uch.ie or the UCH Box Office.
