Gardaí are satisfied that there is no credible threat following investigation

An Garda Síochána have issued a statement saying that they were aware of a communication that had been sent to a number of educational institutions in Co. Clare today, Tuesday February 11.

As understood by the Limerick Voice team, an individual sent a number of threatening communications to educational bodies in Co. Clare this morning.

A number of educational institutions were forced to close after these threats were sent in an email. Schools in the areas of Shannon and Ennis were affected by this incident.

As of now, the Gardaí are continuing to assess the credibility of these communications. However, despite initial concerns, Gardaí are satisfied that any security threat is not credible and there is no ongoing risk to the public.

“Gardaí acted swiftly on this “threat” and have now confirmed to me that there is no active threat. This was a very scary incident for parents, students, school staff and the public” commented local TD Cathal Crowe on X this morning.

“I have full trust in Clare’s Gardai to properly investigate this and establish all facts”, he added.

As reported by an official statement issued by An Garda Síochána, Gardaí are currently engaging with the educational bodies that were affected by this incident this morning.

This concern for students, staff and parents was also echoed by local Clare TD, Timmy Dooley on X. He commented: “Very worrying time for parents, students, teachers and the entire school community across Clare.”
