Man remanded in custody following Limerick arrest as part of Garda operation targeting high-value thefts by organised crime group.
A man in his 30s appeared before Ennis District Court over the weekend in connection with an ongoing Garda investigation into an organised crime group (OCG) suspected of committing burglaries and stealing high-value vehicles across multiple counties.
The man was arrested in Limerick City on Wednesday, April 9, as part of an intelligence-led Garda operation targeting the activities of the OCG. He has since been charged in relation to several burglaries and other offences, according to a Garda statement released today.
He appeared before a special sitting of Ennis District Court on the evening of Sunday, April 13th, where he was remanded in custody to reappear before the court on Wednesday, April 16th.
This is the second individual to be brought before the courts as part of this major investigation, which remains ongoing.
Multi-agency Garda operation targets high-end vehicle thefts and burglaries
The man was arrested during a coordinated operation involving Gardaí from the Clare/Tipperary Division, along with support from Regional Support Units and the Garda Air Support Unit. The arrest was part of a wider crackdown on a crime group suspected of involvement in both residential and commercial burglaries and theft of high-end vehicles.
The man had been detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, which allows Gardaí to question suspects involved in serious organised crime for an extended period.
Gardaí continue crackdown on organised crime across multiple counties
The Garda Press Office confirmed that investigations are continuing, and further arrests have not been ruled out.
This latest court appearance highlights Gardaí’s continued efforts to dismantle organised crime operations in the region and across Ireland, particularly those responsible for high-impact property crimes.
