At a media briefing, Sinn Féin leader, Mary Lou McDonald, says Drew Harris and Helen McEntee should step down.

Sinn Féin leader, Mary Lou McDonald, slams “unprecedented” collapse in policing in a media briefing today, November 24.

McDonald says the riot last night was foreseeable and “in the making for months.” She says it can never happen again.

The Sinn Féin leader says she has no confidence in the Justice Minister or Garda Commissioner, however she has full backing for Gardaí.

According to McDonald, Drew Harris and Helen McEntee should resign over the festering growth of the far right and the lack of safety in Dublin.

In a post on X earlier today, the leader of the government’s opposition said: “Our community has been traumatised twice: by the barbaric knife attack on young children and their teacher, and then by marauding racist mobs who ran riot on our streets. Our community does not feel safe – Has not felt safe for some time now. This must change.”

More information to come as news unfolds.
