WHETHER IT’S A QUICK DIP OR A BRAVE SWIM INTO THE WAVES, FOCUS IRELAND ARE ENCOURAGING EVERYONE TO EMBRACE THIS YEAR’S CHALLENGE IN ANY WAY THEY CAN!
Focus Ireland have announced their “Take the Plunge for Focus Ireland” event which is set to take place in various locations on the 25th of November and will conclude in Limerick on December 2nd.
The final plunge will take place at Ringmoylan Pier in Pallaskenry on the first Saturday of December and it will be in partnership with Limerick Camogie.
The event is a part of Focus Ireland’s mission to raise awareness and tackle homelessness as well as supporting vulnerable individuals and families in need.
Participants are invited to embrace the cold seas at various picturesque locations across the country, but the organisation have encouraged people to join the cause by taking the plunge at their local beach and making a donation if these locations aren’t convenient.

The event is sponsored by Cully & Sully, who will provide hot soup for all participants on the day as well as swim hats for the first 50 registrations in each area.
Lorraine Toner, Head of National Community Fundraising at Focus Ireland, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “This event is not just about taking a plunge into the sea; it’s about taking a plunge for change.
“It’s a call to action to end homelessness and make a real impact on the lives of those in need. By participating in ‘Take The Plunge for Focus Ireland,’ you’re not only embracing the cold waters but also the opportunity to create a brighter future for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Ireland. Join us in this inspiring movement, and together, we can turn the tide on homelessness and bring warmth and hope to those in need.”
She adds: “Focus Ireland believes that everyone has the fundamental right to a place they can call home. Our mission is fuelled by the unwavering belief that homelessness is a societal failure that victimizes ordinary people, stripping them of their potential. Shockingly, there are currently 12,827 individuals, including 3,904 children, experiencing homelessness across Ireland. We are resolutely committed to ending this crisis, and we invite you to join us in our efforts.”

Marian Quinn Chairperson of Limerick Camogie added, “Focus Ireland’s three-year Partnership with Limerick Camogie commenced on the 20th of December 2021 until 31st of December 2024. Limerick Camogie continue to strive towards equity and improving the standards provided to all squads. The players training funds will go towards investing in the future for all players who represent their clubs and county.
“Last year, Limerick Camogie raised a total of whopping €26,000 from their ‘Dip in December’ at Ringmoylan Pier, with 50% of Donations going to Focus Ireland. We hope to surpass this amount this year and are looking forward to being a part of Take the Plunge for Focus Ireland’s fundraising campaign.”
