Part of the busy road was temporarily closed this morning

M50 traffic delays are beginning to ease up after a multiple vehicle collision near Junction 9 Red Cow at 6:40a.m this Tuesday morning.

Lanes two and three were closed, causing huge traffic delays on the southbound carriageway.

Dublin Fire Brigade responded quickly to the scene by moving the affected vehicles to the hard shoulder of the road, allowing the lanes to re-open. Traffic in the area was heavy with tailbacks to the Ballymun junction.

Several small vans and cars were involved in the crash but there were no injuries reported.

A Garda spokesperson told Limerick Voice: “Gardaí and emergency services attended a six-car traffic collision that occurred at approximately 6:40 am today, Tuesday, 28th of November 2023 on Junction 9 of the M50.

“No injuries were reported. The road is currently opened for use.”

Dublin Bus has reminded passengers that Kildare Street and Molesworth Street will be closed until 12pm on Tuesday with disturbances on several city centre routes.

Another collision on the M50 at Junction 12 – Firhouse also occurred in the southbound direction affecting the third lane.
