Republican, Donald Trump, has claimed victory over Kamala Harris in the 2024 US general election
The former president declared a “magnificent victory” as he spoke to supporters in Florida. With all of the votes still yet to be counted in some key states, Trump stated: “This will truly be the golden age of America”.
The Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris, is now not set to address supporters until later today, Wednesday, November 6. The current Vice President’s campaign co-chair, Cedric Richmond, told supporters at Howard University, “We will continue overnight to fight to make sure, every vote is counted, that every voice has spoken.”
With Trump having secured the vote from many swing states, such as Pennsylvania, Georgia, and North Carolina, there are only six states not yet counted.
As of 10:30 am GMT Trump is on 267 electoral votes and Harris is trailing behind on 224. 270 votes are needed to win the title of 47th President of America.
