A second man has been arrested following a violent disorder incident which occurred on O’Connell Street on Friday, February 9, which left two men in hospital.
The incident took place at approximately 9.40pm on Friday, February 9. Gardaí have begun an investigation into the incident which saw the area near Bedford Row junction cordoned off on Friday night. Crime scene investigators attended shorty before 11pm.
On the day the incident occurred, one man was arrested and detained at a garda station in Limerick under section four of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
After further investigation, a man in his 20s was arrested on the morning of Sunday, February 11. He is being questioned at a garda station in Limerick City under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The man in his 30s was charged on Sunday morning.
A garda spokesperson said two men received non-life threatening injuries during the course of this incident and later attended at University Hospital Limerick.
“A man in his 30s was arrested on the evening of Friday, February 9 while a man in his 20s was arrested on the morning of Sunday, February 11. The man in his 30s has since been charged and is expected to appear before a special sitting of Limerick District Court sitting at Nenagh, County Tipperary, at 5pm on Sunday, February 11,” said the garda spokesperson.
