Two men killed and two more hospitalised in tragic Co. Limerick crash

The four young men were travelling in a car that hit a wall last night, February 20 – RIP.

Two men have died in a single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred last night, Tuesday, February 20 in Ballyengland.

The crash occurred around 7:25 pm when the car that the four men were travelling in collided with a wall, resulting in the fatal injuries of two passengers, one of which was in his 20s and the other in his late teens.

Meanwhile, the driver and another passenger, both men in their late teens, are receiving treatment for injuries that Gardaí say are “non-life threatening”.

Following the devastating crash, authorities moved the bodies of the deceased to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place in the coming days.

In light of the incident, Gardaí are urging any witnesses to come forward with information that could assist in their inquiries. Additionally, they are appealing to road users who may have been in the vicinity and have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, to share these materials with authorities.

A Garda spokesperson said: “The road remains closed this morning with local diversions in place. A technical examination will be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

“Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and who were travelling in the area at the time, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.”
