Four days of literary excellence at UL, featuring award-winning authors, poets, and spoken word artists
The University of Limerick Creative Writing Festival is back this April, promising four days of readings, discussions, and performances from some of the biggest names in literature. Running from Wednesday, April 9, to Saturday, April 12, the festival will feature award-winning authors, poets, and spoken word artists across a packed programme of events.
Highlights include appearances by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul Muldoon, international bestsellers Marian Keyes and Liz Nugent, and Booker Prize winner Paul Lynch, alongside UL’s own acclaimed writers Donal Ryan, Eoin Devereux, and Emily Cullen. The festival will also showcase emerging voices, expert panels from the Irish Writers Centre, and performances from leading spoken word artists.
Events take place at University Concert Hall Limerick, with tickets available at uch.ie. Wednesday is free to attend, while other sessions are ticketed individually or as a bundle for Friday and Saturday.

Wednesday:
- 7:00 pm – 8.00 pm: Group reading by DONAL RYAN, JOSEPH O’CONNOR, SARAH MOORE, EMILY CULLEN and EOIN DEVEREUX.
Thursday:
- 7.30 pm – 8.30 pm: MARIAN KEYES and JOSEPH O’CONNOR.
Friday:
- 5.30 pm – 6 pm: KERRY NEVILLE in Conversation with EOIN DEVEREUX.
- 6.30 pm – 7.30 Booker Prize-winner PAUL LYNCH and SARAH GILMARTIN reading from their work.
Saturday:
- 11 am – 12 pm: An Island of many Nations: AFRIC McGLINCHEY, CAUVERY MADHAVAN, SUAD ALDARRA and MC’d by TAPASYA NARANG.
- 12.30 pm – 1.30 pm: Poets ANNEMARIE Ni CHURREAIN, NANDI JOLA and CIARAN O’ROURKE presented by EMILY CULLEN.
- 2 pm – 3 pm: The Alumni Readings: UL Creative Writing MA graduates SHARON GUARD, NEIL TULLY, GRAINNE O’BRIEN, NOELLE LYNSKEY, JUNE O’SULLIVAN, and family of the late PATRICK KELLY
- 3.30 pm – 4.30 pm: The Word on the Street: CORMAC MAC GEARAILT, SHEILA RYDER, LAUREN MCNAMARA
- 5 pm – 6 pm: Former Poetry Editor of The New Yorker, Pulitzer prizewinning poet, PAUL MULDOON
- 6.30 pm – 7.30 pm: Closing event: International bestseller LIZ NUGENT.
