John Kiely has made six changes to the team that beat Tipperary last time out
The Limerick team to play Kilkenny at UPMC Nolan Park in Round 4 of the Allianz Hurling League this Sunday (1.45 pm throw-in) has been named.
There are six changes to the team that defeated Tipperary 0-30 to 1-23 at the Gaelic Grounds two weeks ago. Mike Casey, Barry Nash, Declan Hannon, and Cathal O’Neill all make their first appearances of the season and are joined by the returning Seamus Flanagan and Shane O’Brien in the full forward line.
Though it looked like manager John Kiely may have been rotating his goalkeepers, Shane Dowling is set to start his second game in a row between the sticks. Another player who will continue to get a chance to impress Kiely is Barry Murphy. He’s joined by the returning Casey and Nash in the full-back line.
Much to the delight of Limerick supporters, Declan Hannon is back and joins recent Fitzgibbon Cup winner Colin Coughlan and Diarmaid Byrnes in the half-back line.
Captain Cian Lynch and Adam English will renew their partnership in midfield once again while David Reidy and Eddie Stokes are back in the half-forward line, joined this time by Cathal O’Neill. The Crecora/Manister man returned from injury in UL’s Fitzgibbon Cup win last weekend.
A dangerous full forward line sees Aaron Gillane, Seamus Flanagan and Shane O’Brien start. On the bench, star forwards Peter Casey and Tom Morrissey are in line to make their first appearances of the year.
Missing from Sunday’s squad are Dan Morrissey and Donnacha Ó Dálaigh while Sean Finn, William O’Donoghue, Kyle Hayes and Gearoid Hegarty remain out through injury. Doon’s Darragh O’Donovan status is unknown having yet to feature this year.
