SIMON Zebo is set to re-join Munster Rugby next season from Racing 92.
The IRFU and Munster Rugby have agreed a deal for the winger to rejoin the province from Top 14 side Racing 92.
Thirty one-year-old Zebo made 144 appearances for Munster, scoring 60 tries, before departing the province for Racing at the end of the 2017/2018 season.
Zebo’s return is a big boost for the province as Munster look to end a 10 year trophy drought.
The full back has impressed in France and will be heavily linked with a return to the Irish fold.
He missed out on the World Cup in 2019 but has enjoyed a successful stint in France as Racing 92 lost out to Exeter Chiefs in last season’s Heineken Champions Cup final.
“The opportunity to bring Simon back to Munster came about in early April following a final review of our squad’s budgetary position for season-end and with assistance from the IRFU to support what we believe is a really good deal for Munster and Irish Rugby,” said Munster Head Coach Johann van Graan.
“Simon’s desire to return to Ireland and play with his home club is illustrated by his willingness to sign at a level below his market value elsewhere. This has made bringing the province’s all-time leading try-scorer back home, possible.”
