Dance UL held their annual showcase on Monday, November 25 in the Jonathan Swift Theatre in UL.
Members of the public were invited along to watch the wide variety of performances that were included in the showcase. All members of Dance UL had the opportunity to participate.
“Members had the opportunity to perform solos, duets, and group pieces” explained Anna Cunningham, President of Dance UL. “Groups from weekly classes, including HipHop, Advanced Heels, and Beginner Heels, also showcased choreography by teachers Katelynn Cremin, Sarah Paran, and Amy Everard.” continued Anna.
At present, Dance UL runs five weekly classes. These classes cover a range of styles such as Hip-hop, Heels, Contemporary and Dance Fitness.
“A total of 16 dancers participated, representing a diverse mix of international, Erasmus, and Irish students with varying levels of dance experience. Some participants had only started dancing this semester, making their performances even more impressive! Solos by Katelynn Cremin and Emma Diffley blew the crowd away.
“The showcase was a great success” commented Anna. “Dance UL’s positive, inclusive, and fun environment was infectious, with audience members even dancing in their seats.” she continued.
To conclude their night, the club indulged in a pizza celebration to reward all their hard work throughout the past semester.
“Dance UL has exciting plans for the next semester, including competing at the annual InterVarsity competition in Dublin. We are preparing a mixed piece featuring elements of Irish Dancing, Jazz, HipHop, Bollywood, and more” revealed Anna.
