Ex-Limerick hurling captain named new Liverpool physio

Breen has built up an impressive CV over the course of his career with his latest move to the pinnacle

Former Limerick hurler David Breen has been appointed as the new first team physio at Premier League leaders Liverpool.

The Na Piarsaigh man has built an impressive CV since winning an All-Ireland Senior Club title in 2016, with spells at Harlequins Rugby, Munster Rugby, Manchester City Academy, Wasps Rugby, Leinster Rugby Academy, Celtic Youth Team and more recently with the Republic of Ireland Men’s National Team. 

Breen captained Limerick in 2012 before leading Na Piarsaigh to an All-Ireland Senior Club title in 2016, as well as having five county and four provincial medals to his name.

Taking to LinkedIn, Breen said:

It’s been a real honour and a privilege working for the Football Association of Ireland Men’s National Team. A team that, amongst others, has always carried the hopes and dreams of a nation.  

His home club Na Piarsaigh took to X to wish him luck in his new role, calling him Liverpool’s “signing of the season”: 

“Davy has taken up the role of first team physio with Liverpool and we’re all immensely proud in Na Piarsaigh today.”@NapGAA 

Breen joins Arne’s Slot’s backroom team at Liverpool with the Dutch Manager getting off to an impressive start to his first season at Anfield, the reds are currently top of both the Premier League and Champions League tables at the time of writing.
