Irish runners invited to take part in the global Wings for Life World Run this May
Irish runners will have the chance to take part in one of the most unique and inclusive charity sporting events of the year. The Wings for Life World Run will take place on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 12 pm Irish time.
The only catch is – this race doesn’t have a finish line. The Wings for Life World Run encourages runners, joggers, and wheelchair users to set off at the same time worldwide, and 30 minutes later, the Catcher Car starts moving, which eliminates runners when it overtakes them. This inclusive format is open to anyone, whether that’s love for sporting events, or sporting the cause!
The event will raise funds for Wings for Life Foundation, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to researching cures for spinal cord injuries. 100% of registration fees go directly to the cause. Last year’s event edition saw 265,818 participants from 192 countries raise €8.1 million for spinal cord research.
Olympic pole vault champion, Armand “Mondo” Duplantis will join the event as a new global ambassador for the Wings for Life World Run. Mondo shared his excitement for the upcoming event.
“Running for those who can’t – it’s such a beautiful event and a beautiful thing to be a part of. It’s something really special and I just can’t wait.”
Alongside Mondo, Austrian tennis star, Dominic Thiem will join him as a global ambassador for the 12th edition of the run this May.
Registration is open for Irish participants at €25 via www.wingsforlifeworldrun.com. You can run solo with the official app or join one of the Flagship Runs happening worldwide.
