Limerick FC’s Survival in the Premier Division Would be ‘Fantastic For the City’, Says Pat Shortt

In an exclusive interview with Limerick FC TV, actor and comedian Pat Shortt said Limerick FC’s survival in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division would be “fantastic for the city.”

Speaking at Markets Field, Shortt said, “I know they are fighting against relegation but the city seems to have come behind them (Limerick FC) even bigger and bigger and bigger… it’s an amazing turnaround… so I think if the guys can pull it off, and I’ve no doubt they will next Friday, it will be a fantastic thing for the city.”

Tipperary-born Shortt, who lives in Limerick,  also commented on the city’s bid to become European Capital of Culture 2020, saying “it would be a fantastic thing for the city.”

“I’ve been to a couple of cities of culture in the past… and it just brings a huge vibe to the city… it just elevates the city and everybody in it.”
