2024 All Star team is a full Munster side for the first time in the history of the awards
Four Limerick players were selected in the All Star hurling team selections at the 2024 PwC GAA/GPA Hurling All-Star Awards last night.
Nickie Quaid, Dan Morrissey and Kyle Hayes were named in defence, while Gearoid Hegarty represents the Treaty in the forwards.
Defender Barry Nash, midfielder Cathal O’Neill and forwards Tom Morrissey, Aaron Gillane and David Reidy were Limerick’s five other nominations for All Star team selection.
All Ireland Champions Clare lead the way with six team selections, with beaten finalists Cork claiming five.
It was another fantastic season for John Kiely’s side despite being denied a historic five in a row at the hands of Cork at the semi-final stages. The Treaty County made history after defeating Clare to claim a sixth Munster title in a row in June.
Clare corner back Adam Hogan was named PwC GAA/GPA Young Hurler of the Year ahead of Limerick’s Cathal O’Neill and Cork’s Eoin Downey, meanwhile, Shane O’Donnell edged out Limerick’s Kyle Hayes and Cork’s Darragh Fitzgibbon to receive the PwC GAA/GPA Hurler of the Year.
