This game will be the last before they begin their hunt for a seventh Munster title in a row

John Kiely has named his final lineup for Limerick’s Allianz League campaign as they welcome Wexford to the TUS Gaelic Grounds on Saturday night.

The game is essentially a dead rubber given Limerick will not be fighting for a league final spot nor battling to avoid relegation, whilst their opponents already know their stance. Keith Rossiter’s troops play their final 1A game as they will be playing in Division 1B next season following their relegation which was confirmed after Limerick’s defeat away to Kilkenny last Saturday.

With round one of the Munster Championship set to commence next month, Kiely has given a number of players the chance to impress enough ahead of April 20th, with Vincent Harrington, Michael Houlihan and Cian Scully all getting their first starts of the season alongside all-star Darragh O’Donovan who makes a return to the team in midfield.

Kiely has also decided to try out players in new positions, with Doon’s Adam English lining out at corner forward after playing the majority of the league thus far in the middle of the park.

Declan Hannon also returns to the side at centre back in place of William O’Donoghue, with Tom Morrissey also starting his third game on the bounce since returning to the squad. Aaron Gillane returns having been sidelined for the Kilkenny clash.

A win will leave Limerick on seven points in a league campaign which has seen a lot of new faces amongst their ranks with a chance for management to begin processing their strongest squad possible as they prepare to travel to Semple Stadium to face league finalists Tipperary on Sunday, April 20th.

This weekend’s game throws in at 7:30 pm from the TUS Gaelic Grounds and you can purchase tickets here.
