Munster will start their Heineken Champions Cup campaign at home to Harlequins on Sunday December 13 (kick-off 5.30pm).
The last time these sides met Munster secured an 18-12 triumph on the quarter finals in what was a typically dogged Munster display.
There will be a familiar face returning to Thomond Park, with former Munster hooker Jerry Flannery working as a lineout coach for the Premiership side.
Six days after the Harlequins clash, Munster will travel to France as they come up against Clermont Auvergne on Saturday December 19.
The match-up will evoke memories of Munster’s heartbreaking 16-10 defeat to the French outfit in the semi-finals of the competition back in 2013.
Johann Van Graan’s charges welcome their French foes to Thomond Park on Saturday January 16th in their third group game.
In the final round of games Munster will face Harlequins in the Twickenham Stoop the following Saturday.
This year’s competition has been revamped as each team only plays four group games compared to six in previous years.
Munster, in Pool B and in Tier 2 of the rankings face two clubs from the same pool but ranked in Tier 3 based on the league finishes last season.
There will be no less of a challenge for the Irish province with home and away clashes against old rivals Clermont and 2013 quarter-final opponents Harlequins.
Realistically, Munster must win both their home games and secure an away victory to have any hope of progressing to the knockout stages.
