Limerick are back on our television screens this weekend
Live coverage of Limerick’s refixed round four Allianz Hurling League clash against Kilkenny has been confirmed. The action will be shown on TG4 and gets underway on Saturday at 3:30 pm in UPMC Nowlan Park.
The round four fixture was due to be played on February 23 but was called off on the morning of the game after a pitch inspection in UPMC Nowlan Park found the surface to be unplayable. The match was rescheduled for this weekend.
It was back to business as usual for Limerick on Saturday evening as they moved into Division 1A league final contention with a resounding 1-27 to 0-18 win over Galway at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.
Kilkenny, meanwhile, come into the match on the back of a 1-19 to 2-25 loss to Tipperary. The Cats received three red cards during the contest, continuing their unwanted trend of not winning a home game this year in the process.
For Limerick, a win in their final two games against Kilkenny and Wexford will put them in a strong position on nine points. Equally, a Cork win against Galway in their final game of the league would also move the Rebels to nine points.
The scoring difference could then decide which team advances to the league final as the sides drew in round two of the league. Pat Ryan’s side has a scoring difference of +29, with Limerick at +13.
The trip to UPMC Nowlan Park should prove to be a welcome date for the Treaty men as they look to maintain momentum before heading into a championship where the intention will very much be recapturing former glory after the All-Ireland semifinal heartbreak of last year’s championship.
Limerick will finish their Allianz League campaign against Wexford on March 22 at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.
