It’s a special night for Mark Walsh who will be recognised at half time for reaching the 100 appearances milestone
Treaty United will entertain Finn Harps in the SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division tonight at Markets Field. Tommy Barrett’s side are looking to build on their excellent performance away to Athlone Town last week, which saw them run out 5-0 winners.
Lee Devitt was in outstanding form that night as he bagged himself a hat-trick while Barrett handed first starts to Eoin Martin, Connor Wilson, Joe Hanson and Karl O’Sullivan.
The result was very much welcomed after a late collapse on the first night of the season saw Treaty give up a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 at home to Cobh Ramblers. That result, coupled with the 5-0 win over Athlone leaves Treaty fourth in the table and league top scorers at this early stage.
Their Ballybofey opponents, meanwhile, travel to Limerick in search of their first goal and points of the season after 2-0 and 1-0 losses to Kerry and Dundalk, respectively.
It’s a special night for club captain Mark Walsh, who will be recognised at half time after becoming the latest Treaty United player to reach the 100 appearances milestone against Cobh Ramblers. Walsh is the only remaining member from Tommy Barrett’s squad since its inaugural appearance in the League of Ireland.
Manager Tommy Barrett said: It’s great to see Mark reach this milestone, and it shows his level of commitment especially given the fact that he is a father to two young children. His resilience to come back from a couple of serious injuries over the last few seasons, especially when he suffered a fractured
jaw, shows his character. He’s a great pro, looks after himself really well and is a really good role model for the younger players in the squad.
Walsh’s milestone achievement will be recognised with a presentation before the game with his family and friends VIP guests at Markets Field.
Tonight’s battle against Finn Harps will also see Treaty host a Students Night with pre-game and half-time activities. There is also an opportunity to win a pair of student season tickets in a raffle, to enter, click here. The club is continuing its February/March promotion of Buy One, Bring a Friend for Free on
student tickets. Purchase your student ticket here or at the stadium entrance on match day.
Kickoff is at 7.45 pm and will be shown live on LOI TV.
