The Japanese defender is the third signing of the week for the Limerick club.
Treaty United Women’s have further bolstered their squad ahead of the 2024 Premier Division season with the signing of full-back Ayaka Ikeza from Seisa OSA Rhea Shonan FC.
It has been a busy couple of days for the club, having already signed Jillian O’Toole from William and Mary University in Virginia as well as re-signing goalkeeper Katie Irwin.
The 26-year-old joins the Limerick club having recently moved to Ireland from Japan and is a player with plenty of experience at the top level. She has been playing football for over 20 years and lined out at left-back for Seisa OSA Rhea Shonan FC before moving to Ireland.
During her time at her previous club, Ikeza played in the Empress Cup as well as in the national high school championships. Ikeza also devoted her time to coaching the U11 boys’ team at Serigaya Tokyo in Machida, Tokyo.
Speaking to TreatyUnitedFC.com following her announcement, Ikeza expressed her excitement for the year ahead:
“I am delighted to be part of Treaty United. It is my first time living away from Japan, and they have made me feel at home. I cannot wait to put on my boots for the new season. I will do my best to lead the team to victory.”
Treaty get their season underway in the Markets Field on Saturday March 16th when they host DLR Waves FC.
